Soft Skills Programme Map

Updated 2026-07-06

Employers consistently rank communication, teamwork, and self-management above technical grades — yet nobody timetables them. This programme gives them a structure: modules you work through deliberately, each with practice tasks, not just reading.

What you will learn

How the programme fits together, where to start, and how each module builds toward a capability you can evidence in an interview.

The guide

The design principle: practise, then reflect. Reading about communication changes nothing. Every module in this programme ends with a real-world practice task and a reflection prompt — the loop that turns knowledge into habit.

The programme sequence:

  1. Communication Essentials (available now) — being understood: structure, audience, and the discipline of the main point first.
  2. Teamwork That Actually Works (available now) — roles, friction, and the meeting behaviours that separate productive groups from painful ones.
  3. Time and Self-Management (in development) — planning under pressure, the weekly review, and honest estimation.
  4. Presenting with Confidence (in development) — structure, nerves, and delivery for tutorials and beyond.
  5. Professional Writing (in development) — emails, reports, and asking for things in writing.
  6. Leadership for Beginners (in development) — leading a group assignment without a title.

Start with Communication Essentials even if another module attracts you more — every later module builds on it.

How to evidence these skills. Keep a running note of concrete moments: "led the group when our presenter dropped out", "turned a 3-page email chain into one clear summary". Interviews reward specific stories, and this programme deliberately generates them.

Why this matters for your studies

Group assignments, tutorials, and presentations are graded soft-skill performances — the same capabilities, assessed earlier. Improving them raises marks now and employability later.
